A letter from Dr. Jose Almeida to Fellows & Trainees

Vascular surgery fellows are invited to participate in the IVC 2026 Fellows & Trainees Program, taking place May 28–30, 2026 in Miami, in partnership with the University of Miami Department of Surgery.

Now entering its 24th year, the International Vascular Congress has introduced a dedicated Fellows Track specifically designed to complement and reinforce ACGME core competencies, with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and real-world clinical decision-making.

Importantly, all approved fellows’ expenses to attend IVC 2026 will be covered by the Congress, including registration, travel, and accommodations (up to three nights). This support is made possible through unrestricted educational grants from industry partners, administered by IVC to ensure full educational independence and compliance.

The Fellows Program includes:

  • Two full mornings of structured vascular ultrasound training
  • Hands-on endovascular and device simulation laboratories
    • Thursday May 28 at 10:30 - 12pm
    • Friday May 29 at 10:30 - 12pm
  • Faculty-led venous and arterial case discussions
  • Exposure to complex venous disease, VTE management, and arterial controversies
  • Practical insights into transition-to-practice and clinical judgment

This curriculum directly supports ACGME domains including Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning, and Systems-Based Practice, while offering educational experiences that are difficult to replicate within a single home institution.

Our goal is to provide fellows with concentrated, high-yield training that enhances confidence, technical skill, and clinical maturity—returning to their programs better prepared for independent practice, without placing financial burden on the fellow or training program.

We would be honored to welcome fellows from your program to IVC 2026. Additional details regarding eligibility, selection, and scheduling are available upon request.

Thank you for your continued commitment to vascular education and trainee development.

Warm regards,

Jose I. Almeida, MD, Congress Chairman, International Vascular Congress (IVC 2026)
